Happy birthday, AR Rahman!

The world's leading music composer who has made us Indians proud time and again, AR Rahman, the Mozart of Madras, Isai Puyal, celebrates his birthday today (January 6).

ARR has won multiple awards including two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA, one Golden Globe and four National Awards apart from various other accolades for his noble and novice contribution to the film industry. Today as AR Rahman celebrates his birthday, he also enters his 20th year of career in films! Rahman is not in India today on his birthday.

The ace composer's latest in Hindi is 'Ek Deewana Tha', the Hindi version of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' and 'Ye Maaya Chesave'. The music release of this album has become quite a rage in the North already.

He currently has a film with Bharath Bala, Mani Ratnam's next which is touted to be titled 'Pookadai', 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru' with Gautham Vasudev Menon and Superstar Rajinikanth's next, 'Kochdaiyaan'.

Mammootty visits Azhikode

After freeing himself from the busy schedules of his son's marriage, Megastar Mammootty visited orator Sukumar Azhikode last day. At Amala Hospital, Azhikode enquired Mammootty about his son Dulqar's marriage.

Azhikode also exhorted the film fraternity to come together for the cause of Mullaiperiyar. He also shared the fun that he had with Sureshgopi, Innocent, Jayaram and Sathyan Anthikkad when they came to visit him. Mammootty wished Azhikode to continue with his saga even while in hospital bed.

Now all eyes are on Superstar Mohanal with whom Azhikode had a verbal fight some time back. Lal has called Azhikode on phone and expressed his sorry about the whole happenings, but remains one celebrity to come and personally visit him at hospital.

'Traffic' team again

After creating a mind blowing hit in 'Traffic', director Rajesh Pillai is getting ready to shoot his next in Malayalam. This time he will be using the scripts of Anoop Menon who had done an interesting role in 'Traffic'.

Planned again as a family thriller, the new film will also have Jayasuriya apart from Kunchakko Boban, Asif Ali and Nivin Poly who were part of the big hit.

Rajesh will start shooting for the movie from the early months of 2012. Meanwhile, the pre-production works of the Hindi remake of 'Traffic' is also progressing briskly. The Hindi version will feature front line stars of the industry.

Mammootty -the icon of Kerala

Megastar Mammootty will be presented with the Asianet Cultural Icon of Kerala award today. The recognition will be given on the 'Ujala Asianet movie awards 2012' function which will be announced and presented in a colourful function at Dubai, this afternoon.

The megastar who had been away from the shooting schedules for quite some days due to the marriage of his son Dulqar Salman, will start shooting for the movie 'Cobra' from the tenth of this month.

Meanwhile, Mammootty has found something going his way with the latest release for Christmas 'Venicile Vyapari'. Though the movie hasn't emerged as a big crowd puller, it has garnered in decent collections, particularly from the metroes to end up as an above average earner. The movie will not be having a long run as expected, but Mammootty will be pretty happy that it has ended his streak of four continuous flops in 2012, that includes 'August 15', 'Doubles', 'Bombay, March12', and 'The Train'.
